After not having several face to face Psychology of Teaching and Learning classes, I wasn’t about to let these alien assassins in my tummy prevent me from being in class tonight. The pain was distracting, but I managed to drive myself to VTDI very early and take in a crucial lesson.

Throughout the class, I was bearing my burden; I shifted every few minutes as if I was sitting on hot coals, did breathing exercises and asked God for a miracle. Nonetheless, I soldiered through it and managed not to fall into a coma before class was through. I was tired by 8:00 p.m. and my face was splitting in two, by yawns every few minutes.

This evening we discussed Theorists such as Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, Erik Erickson, and Lawrence Kohlberg.

child-development-theoristsWe delved into:

  • Lev Vygotsky‘s social development.
  • Jean Piaget‘s theory of cognitive development.
  • Erik Erikson‘s  psychosocial development of human beings
  • and Lawrence Kohlberg’s stages of moral development

Vygotsky and Erikson were much easier to digest than Piaget and Kohlberg. Even now my poor brain is complaining about having to study boring theorists and their theories again. This is the part I hate in any programme, usually first year. I must admit that the farther we delve into this programme, the more I will understand and recall.

Until then, I will continue to watch Khan Academy YouTube videos. They seem to be better at explaining the concepts and they do so with visual illustrations that I can remember.
